I began my career in the charter industry in 1988 working as a mate for several premier local captains. I enjoyed everything about my work, the preparation, the guest anglers and most of all trying to figure out the fish. While working on the back of the boat, my goal was to be at the helm and run my own boat. I logged many hours on the water, hours the United States Coast Guard requires to be licensed. My goal was not just to get my 6 pack license which most captains have, but to get my near shore 50 ton masters. This license allows me to operate my certified vessel, capable of carrying more than 6 people, off shore with paid passengers. I use this education and experience to fish the entire Chesapeake Bay and the coastal waters of the Atlantic. I have chartered from Solomons and Point Lookout, Maryland as well as Windmill Point, Cape Charles and Virginia Beach, Virginia to fish for specific species of fish throughout the year. I enjoy the charter fishing industry for so many reasons. A passion for fishing, the competition with the fish, competition with other captains, and teaching and watching client anglers.
